Aloha and welcome to my life on Maui!
What can I say? Living in Maui has been a wonderful experience. Maui has been my home for 50 years. I arrived in Maui at 19 with a hundred dollars in my pocket and a surfboard. I got into construction at a young age and started Nickens Interiors with my brother. We operated a retail store, Nickens Interiors, and I was a licensed contractor for 16 years. I have been selling real estate in Maui for 30 years. I have worked on the sales team with Wailea Group for three years, representing properties in Wailea Beach Villas, Papali Wailea, and Hoolei in Wailea. I work with Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers now.
I have to say I am proud of my family. Maui-born and raised, this group has a lot of talent, from pro surfers to computer programmers, artists, Olukai Shoes State Reps, and the owner of Keani Jewelry, which is opening soon in the Shops at Wailea. Two of my granddaughters compete in Hawaii surf events, and my son-in-law has a master’s in Business from USC. Including Grandma, who lived with us and recently passed away a few years ago, we are four generations from Maui.
My real success is my family, which makes my life solid and I am able to go out and take on the world. Ivy is also an artist, we love working in the yard together, also great traveling partner. We own 2.5 acres and operate a legal vacation rental in Haiku which my wife runs and is a very successful business.
My family means everything to me. My wife and I raised two boys, who are top surfers on Maui. Micah a pro surfer and manager of Dakine international pro surf team and marketing. He is married to a charming girl who runs Olukai shoes in the state and has a cute daughter named Makenna. My other son Nate is a computer programmer, married to a talented girl who owns Keani Jewelry in Makawao and Whalers Village, they have two daughters. I have two lovely daughters, one is married and lives in San Clemente and doing really well. My other daughter Meili lives on Maui, loves horses and works at the Marriott Hotel in Wailea. My lovely wife is born and raised on Maui, my best friend, talented artist, just a great human being.
I have been an active Realtor on Maui for 27 years. I have had the pleasure of working with some of Maui’s finest companies. I have years of experience working Upcountry Maui, South Maui, Wailuku and Lahaina side for years. The last 12 years I have worked with top Wailea offices, prior to Wailea Realty Corp/Windermere, which just merged with Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers. I was on the sales team with the Wailea Group, working on sales teams on projects at Wailea Beach Villas, Ho’olei Wailea Villas, Papali Wailea, and Wailea Fairway Villas,
I love my job; I am always trying to raise the bar in my profession. I have developed over the years a passion for the internet. I am a self-taught computer/internet Geek. I have developed my skills to manage and market through out the internet through social media, blogging, video marketing and website development. I am able to market properties throughout real estate networks, groups, and organizations that I belong to. Working with a company like Hawaii Life Real Estate Brokers a long time established firm in State of Hawaii, Hawaii Life gets over 3 million visitors a year to their website. Hawaii Life is located in the Shops at Wailea, Kihei, Paia, and Kapalua Maui, So if you’re buying or selling real estate on Maui, give me a call. You can request my listing presentation if you’re thinking about selling your home or condos on Maui.
On more of a personal note, I just don’t work all the time, I love the island lifestyle that Maui has to offer. I have been an avid surfer all my life, I competed in surf events on Maui for 10 years with my sons. I love to travel with my wife, we just got back from Costa Rica. I am a seasoned snowboarder; I love to windsurf on Maui’s North shore which is my home. I stand up paddle with my wife in the summer a lot. My wife and I live in Haiku Maui on two-acres. When I get home I love to get my hands in the dirt, for years I been gardening, I raise vegetables, papayas, bananas, avocados, and have an extensive orchard
Over the years I have been involved with local Maui Churches, I have worked with youth over the years. We were in the Philippines (2011) putting on a surf contest and sports camps for kids in the outer islands of Sariago.
My wife Ivy and I have worked over the last three years at Camp Piialoha, working with kids from homes of parents that have been incarcerated. The community really comes out in support of the three-day event. Great support from local churches, business and individuals.
In the past, I was involved with Habit For Humanities and working with the homeless shelter, which I am now working with a group of Realtors from our company at the shelter. I also am involved with a men’s group called Moi, men from all over Maui. We do a lot of fundraisers to support youth camps in Saraigo Philippines and schools on the Rio Coco in Nicaragua Central America, and locally on Maui. Recently raising money for families in the Philippines that experienced a Cat 5 Hurricane that leveled their island in Sariago.
So there you go, I take my job very seriously. Even after the close of escrow, my job is never done, I am there to serve my clients to the best of my ability. So if you have any questions about Maui homes or condos for sale, please give me a call. With 49 years on Maui, I can help you find that perfect property in Wailea, Makena, Kihei, Kaanapali, Spreckelsville, and upcountry Kula Maui.
My favorite quote, today is a good day, make it count!
